Officials: CIA gave waterboarders $5M legal shield 17 Dec 2010 When the CIA decided to waterboard suspected terror detainees in overseas prisons, the agency turned to a pair of contractors. The men designed the CIA's interrogation program and also personally took part in the waterboarding sessions. But to do the job, the CIA had to promise to cover at least $5 million in legal fees for them in case there was trouble down the road, former U.S. officials said. Turns out the mercenaries needed that secret agreement as taxpayers pay to defend the men in a federal investigation over an interrogation tactic the United States now says is torture.

Polish attorney Bartlomiej Jankowski said that he wanted the case of his client, Abu Zubaydah, to be folded into an existing Polish probe of claims that another suspected senior Al-Qaeda member, Abd al-Rahim al-Nashiri, was tortured at a purported US "black site" in Poland. The lawyer told reporters that he wanted prosecutors to question both Zubaydah and former US president [sic] George W. Bush.

On Monday, Karim Khan filed a police complaint saying that his brother and son, both government employees, were killed in a CIA drone strike on their home near Mir Ali in North Waziristan in December 2009. The complaint names the CIA station chief in Islamabad.

Well the USA are very keen on extradition, so perhaps they will comply with the authorities in Pakistan should  they request that this man be returned to their country? William Gladys.

CIA top spy flees Pakistan over lawsuit --Lawsuit also named CIA Director Leon Panetta and US Defense Secretary Robert Gates 17 Dec 2010 The US central intelligence agency (CIA) has been forced to call back its top spy in Pakistan after he was accused of killing civilians in unauthorized drone attacks. This comes days after a Pakistani lawsuit designated the CIA station chief by name, accusing him of killing civilians in missile strikes. Kareem Kahn, a resident of the North Waziristan tribal district, filed an official complaint with Islamabad police against CIA station chief Jonathan Bank at the US Embassy in Islamabad on Monday.

Unauthorized US strikes kill 26 Pakistanis 17 Dec 2010 Four non-UN-sanctioned US drone strikes have claimed the lives of at least 26 people in northwestern Pakistan amid public protest. The unauthorized airstrikes took place in the Khyber Agency tribal region on Friday. It's the second consecutive day the US drones target the same region. On Thursday, a US air raid claimed the lives of seven people when a missile hit a vehicle in Speen Drang area of Tirah valley in Pakistan's Kheber Pakhtunkhwa Province.

"The Missile Defense Agency was unable to achieve a planned intercept of a ballistic missile target during a test over the Pacific Ocean today," Richard Lehner, an agency spokesman, said in an e-mailed statement. The miss brought the so-called ground-based midcourse defense's batting record to eight intercepts out of 15 tries, as reckoned by the Missile Defense Agency.

A congressional committee, the house judiciary committee, today took evidence from a variety of lawyers about the possibility of a prosecution under the espionage act and the legal and constitutional issues raised by WikiLeaks.

The classified cables reveal that shortly after the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshi field gas leak, BP was "exceptionally circumspect in disseminating information" on the problem both to the public and its ACG partners.

Obama signs over $858 billion in tax-cuts for wealthy By Lori Price 18 Dec 2010 GOP-pwned Barack Obama signed over nearly one trillion dollars to his corpora-terrorist paymasters and GOP overlords. Oh, btw: Shell Oil got a big tax break in this bill, as well. While signing the treasonous Bill, Obusha talked about the need to reduce spending. That would be a reference to his Cat Food Commission, co-chaired by misogynist dirt-bag Alan Simpson. These immoral cretins are chomping at the bit to GUT Social Security so Wall Street can continue to make a killing. Seriously, it is time -- long past time -- for American Revolution #2.

U.S. Tries to Build Case for Conspiracy by WikiLeaks 16 Dec 2010 Federal prosecutors, seeking to build a case against the WikiLeaks leader Julian Assange for his role in a huge dissemination of classified government documents, are looking for evidence of any collusion in his early contacts with an Army intelligence analyst suspected of leaking the information. Justice Department officials are trying to find out whether Mr. Assange encouraged or even helped the analyst, Pfc. Bradley Manning, to extract classified military and State Department files from a government computer system. If he did so, they believe they could charge him as a conspirator in the leak, not just as a passive recipient of the documents who then published them.

He also thanked the British justice system and members of the press who had not been "taken in", adding he would "continue my work and continue to protest my innocence". [See: Video of Julian Assange's Statement After His Release on Bail.]

Internet Usage is Logged & Monitored," according to a screen shot reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. The notice warns that anyone who accesses unauthorized sites from military computers could be punished.
