All parties' Sikh panel flays Ekta Yatra

Srinagar, January 22

The All Parties' Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) has criticised the BJP's Rashtriya Ekta Yatra to hoist the National Flag at the historic Lal Chowk in Srinagar on Republic Day.

According to Jagmohan Singh Raina, chairman of the APSCC, the National Flag was hoisted in the Kashmir valley at nearly 450 places every year. At Lal Chowk, there were more than 10 spots where the Tricolour was hoisted. "We want to live in peace. After a long turmoil we have found a little hope for peace, but once again the BJP is playing with the sentiments of the minority communities by making them feel that the majority community in India can dominate the former any time on issues which have nothing to do with national interest," Raina said. — TNS

Comments:

We are really grateful for The All Parties' Sikh Coordination Committee (APSCC) under the leadership of Sardar Jagmohan Singh Raina, chairman of the APSCC as well as all the Sikh nation, followers of Janab Guru Nanak Sahib for their support in the Kashmiri cause.

As a matter of fact, we strongly endorse Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh, President of the Council of Khalistan, who spoke at the International Sikh Conference on January 8 at Royal Albert Hall in Edison, New Jersey.

Dr. Gurmit Singh Aulakh said when India became independent, Sikhs were to receive their own state, but the Sikh leaders of the time were tricked into staying with India on the promise that they would have "the glow of freedom" and no law affecting the Sikhs would pass without their consent. Sikhs ruled an independent and sovereign Punjab from 1710 to 1716 and again from 1765 to 1849 and were recognized by most of the countries of the world at that time. No Sikh representative has ever signed the Indian constitution. Sikhism was not even recognized in the Indian constitution as a separate religion, while Islam, Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, etc. were recognized. Discrimination against the Sikh Nation took place in every sphere.

In view of the November 1984 genocide of the Sikhs wherein more than 260,000 people were mercilessly killed by the Indian forces, we as human beings do not want to see this happen again.

The Indian government has failed to play the role of a welfare state.  Instead, in the past 63 years, its role has been merely an occupier of both Kashmir and Khalistan.  At the present time, India has stationed more than 700,000 troops in Kashmir and more than 400,000 troops in Punjab (Khalistan).  It is the order of the day that both Kashmiris and Sikhs work together with close coordination to break the chain of slavery of the Indian government.

Regards,

Habib Yousafzai
