PRIVATE schools, it seems, have had enough of adhering to the common calendar for nursery admissions.

Though they followed the government- prescribed dates for the sale of admission forms, schools are back to taking liberties now.

Many are going to announce their results as much as two weeks later than the date suggested in the common calendar.

According to the Delhi government directive, forms had to be sold between January 1 and January 15.

Schools are expected to announce their first list of selected candidates by February 1.

But Springdales Schools, Air Force Bal Bharati School and Sardar Patel Vidyalaya are going to announce their results on February 12, 15 and March 10, respectively.

Likewise, St Thomas School located on Mandir Marg, Father Agnel School in Gautam Nagar and Presidium School in Dwarka/ Ashoka Vihar will announce their first list on February 8, 10 and 7 respectively.

" Schools are allowed to deviate from these dates provided they give their reasons to the education department. If they want they can announce results a week before the prescribed date. But they can't do it beyond February 1," an education official said.

But permission to " deviate" from the calendar seems to have been interpreted differently by the schools. Hence, the different dates.

This is bound to create trouble for parents as they will now face problems getting the admission fee refunded from one school in case they want to secure a seat elsewhere.

According to the guidelines of the directorate of education, parents can get the fee refunded within one month of having paid the amount to the school.

" The first school announced its results on January 15. If others choose to release theirs as late as March, then parents will have to forfeit the fee already paid at a school, which declared results a month ago," Sumit Vohra, founder of online portal admissions nursery. com , said.
