दिल्ली महिला आयोग की नयी अध्यक्ष जानी मानी साहित्यकार एवं नारीवादी लेखिका मैत्रेयी पुष्पा को बनाये जाने की संभावना है।
दिल्ली के मुख्यमंत्री अरविन्द केजरीवाल ने आज इस बारे में पूछे जाने पर कहा कि मैत्रेयी पुष्पा अत्यंत महत्वपूर्ण साहित्यकार एवं सामाजिक शख्सियत हैं। उन्हें अध्यक्ष बनाकर इस पद पर किसी राजनीतिक व्यक्ति को बिठाने की वर्ष से चली आ रही परंपरा तोडी जा रही है।
उन्होंने कहा कि अब तक होता यह रहा है कि विभिन्न सरकारी संस्थाओं में उन्हीं पार्टियों के लोगों को नियुक्त किया जाता रहा है। जिन पार्टियों की सरकारें होती थी। पिछले कुछ वर्ष के दौरान विभिन्न संस्थाओं में कांग्रेस ने अपने लोगों को बिठा रखा है लेकिन अब दिल्ली महिला आयोग के अध्यक्ष के पद पर एक निष्पक्ष शख्सियत तथा महत्वपूर्ण साहित्यकार को नियुक्त किया जा रहा है।
हालांकि पुष्पा ने कहा कि उन्हें अभी इस बात की आधिकारिक सूचना नहीं मिली है। गौरतलब है कि दिल्ली महिला आयोग की मौजूदा अध्यक्ष बरखा सिंह ने दिल्ली सरकार के कानून मंत्री सोमनाथ भारती के इस्तीफे की मांग की थी और इसके बाद से उनके हटाये जाने की चर्चा तेज हो गयी। बरखा सिंह का कार्यकाल अभी तीन साल शेष है। उत्तर प्रदेश के अलीगढ़ जिले के सिकुर्रा गांव में जन्मी पुष्पा जानी मानी उपन्यासकार एवं कहानीकार हैं। उनके प्रमुख उपन्यासों में स्मृति दंश, चालक, अल्मा कबूतरी, कहैं ईसुरी फाग, बेतवा बहती रही, चिन्हार, इदन्नमम और गुनाह बेगुनाह प्रमुख है। चिन्हार, ललमनिया, त्रिया हठ और पगला गयी भागवती जैसी उनकी कहानियां चर्चित रही हैं।

Maitreyi Pushpa was born in Sikurra village, Aligarh district. She spent her childhood and early years in Khilli, another village in Bundelkhand near Jhansi.
Thus, she inherited the vitality of both the cultures and languages of Bundeli and Brij on which she has enviable command. She did her post graduation in Hindi from Bundelkhand College, Jhansi.

Maitreyi Pushpa has authored seven collections of short stories and ten novels besides writing regular column in weekly Rashtriya Sahara.
The Delhi government proposed her name for the post of Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chairperson on the 29th January,2014.[8]

Since she is the only woman writer in Hindi who has chosen to write about rural India, her writing is a constant struggle against the feudal system which still prevails in Indian villages. Her protagonists are always fearless women upholding feminine dignity, who suffer and resist the male domination. No other woman writer in Hindi grapples with and depicts the rural politics and reality better than Maitreyi. She is bold and forthright. She is well known for her powerful idiomatic language and uninhibited treatment.[9]
As the famous author, Rajendra Yadav says, Maitreyi Pushpa has released Hindi literature from the closed and suffocating atmosphere of cities into the open spaces of villages and fields, in a way that no Hindi writer has done before. She has given new definitions to both our bookish titles and language. After independence, Maitreyi's work would be the third name after Rangey Raghav and Phanishwar Nath 'Renu' which has burst into the skies of literature like a comet.

Unlike other political parties, AAP Govt in Delhi has recommended the name of such a person who is apolitical so that she can take unbiased decisions. AAP does not believe in compromises, when it comes to women issues.
