Better close all the universities so that Indian childern engaged in higher studies might not be hunted!

RSS to Make  a JNU of JU,Bengal protests on streets!

Bengal Chief minister keeps mum as she restricted party MP Saugat Roy who opposed RSS threat against Jadavpur university as the PM visited Kolkata amidst Huge Left Rally in Central Kolkata and big rallies over the state tos tand with JNU and Jadavpur!

It is quite an alarming situation for Indian Universities as they are deprived of autonomous status.Rahit Vemula in Hyderabad Central University was killed by Manusmriti.

Mohit had to commit suicide in yet anotehr central university in Rajsthan where every college and university have been subjected to remain under scanner.

We know all about #Shut DOWN JNU!

In Bengal,RSS launched #Shut Down Jadavpur University.Just because, the students, affiliated to various Left Parties, took to the streets in Kolkata to protest the alleged police atrocities inside the JNU campus and the omnipresent media reported that the ongoing protests in Delhi against the crackdown on the students of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) seems to have reached Jadavpur University with students of varsity taking out a torch rally and raising slogans against the hanging of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru.

Kanhaia was arrested and attacked in the court and JNU students are treated as terrorist.Look out notice served against some of them so that they might be killed in encounter!

A Girl student in Protesting Jadavpur campus has been threatened to be burnt alive.Despite FIR lodged, the threats continued as RSS and BJP leaders declared a war against Jadavpur university!

What next?

A section of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leadership consisting of state and central leadersd on Saturday accused Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das of inaction over the raising of slogans on the Afzal Guru hanging and other controversial issues by a few students earlier this week on the campus. While Mr.Das refuted the allegation, he found support from the Trinamool Congress (TMC).

Mind you,the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) earlier sought a report from the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC) Government in West Bengal over the protest by Jadavpur University students.

Mind you,the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday filed a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) in the Calcutta High Court demanding NIA probe over the anti-national slogans raised in the Jadavpur University.Jadavpur University Vice Chancellor Suranjan Das, who called on West Bengal Governor K.N. Tripathi amid row over pro-Afzal guru slogans, earlier today, said that he was against filing First Information Report against any student as the varsity has always stood for freedom of expression and autonomy.

BJP leaders accused Mr.Das of "doing nothing" to identify those who raised "anti-India slogans" and asked why he had not taken any action against the students.

"Right under the nose of Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor some raised anti-India slogans. If he does not take any action against these elements and curb such activities, then it becomes clear that he is working according to a political agenda", BJP national secretary Siddharth Nath Singh said. He dubbed Mr.Das as a "Trinamool Congress (TMC) appointee" and alleged that he was working on behalf of the ruling party.

Then BJP leaders in Bengal claimed, had they been in Power, they would have ambushed Jadavpur and would have thrashed the Ani National teachers, employees and students.

Asking why the Vice-Chancellor had not yet submitted a report to the Chancellor over the incident despite being asked to do so, Mr.Singh said: "The Governor is not only the constitutional head of the State but also the Chancellor of the University. So, how come the Vice-Chancellor is yet to submit a report to him even after the Governor has sought it?"

Mr.Das, however, refuted the allegations of working for a "political agenda" and pointed out that a Vice-Chancellor was appointed by the Chancellor. "I have never acted under political influence, and the interest of the university has always been my priority", he said.

"I am hurt. It is not proper to make such remarks against a Vice-Chancellor. Everybody has the right to freedom of speech. He (Mr.Singh) must have made such remarks under that right and I am also entitled to deny the allegations under the same", Mr.Das said.

Supporting the Vice-Chancellor over the issue, senior TMC leader and MP, Saugata Roy, wondered whether Mr.Singh was qualified to make such comments. He lauded Mr.Das' decision of not lodging an FIR against the students and said, "I have seldom heard such a dignified comment from a Vice-Chancellor".

Meanwhile, a BJP rally reached the gates of the Governor's house despite Section 144 being in effect there. The BJP supporters raised slogans in front of the north gate of the Governor's house.

West Bengal BJP Saturday slammed Jadavpur University Vice-Chancellor Suranjan Das for refusing to lodge a police complaint against students who allegedly raised "anti-India" slogans recently. The party's Bengal chief Dilip Ghosh said that had the BJP been in power in the state, "the anti-nationals would have been pulled by their collar" and sent behind bars.

Its national secretary Sidharth Nath Singh, on the other hand, claimed Das was "acting like an appointee of the Trinamool Congress" and said the V-C has "failed to inculcate nationalism in his students".

The party and the RSS's students wing ABVP have been up in arms ever since some students of the university allegedly raised slogans in support of JNU students and Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. They have been demanding that the police arrest these "anti-nationals", a demand which the V-C outright rejected, emphasising the university will stand by its "tradition" which allows for "freedom of expression".

Attacking him over his stance, Singh sought to know why the V-C was yet to submit a report on the incident which Governor Kesari Nath Tripathi, who is the constitutional head of the state and also the university's Chancellor, has sought from him.

"If BJP were in power in the state, then we would have arrested the anti-nationals, irrespective of students and teachers, and would have pulled them by the collar. But, unfortunately, we do not have any authority in the state. Hence I request the state government to take strong action against anyone going against the nation," said the party president.

Responding to the allegations, Das said his decision (to not take action against the students) wasn't based on any "political agenda" and he only had the "interests of the university on his mind".

"I never acted on any political agenda. I always tried to rise above politics and work with the interests of the university in mind and will do so in the future as well," he said.

"I was the V-C during the tenure of the Left government. The Chancellor appoints the V-C. If he feels that one has the required qualification, he appoints him. Politics should not be brought into it. India is a democratic country where everyone has freedom of expression," he said, adding, "Singh used that same right to make such a statement."

Governor Tripathi had Wednesday sought a report on the incident from chief secretary Basudeb Banerjee and the vice-chancellor. After meeting the governor, Das had said that the university's executive council would meet Monday over the issue of sloganeering on campus.

ABVP holds at a protest rally against anti-national comments that are being carried out at Jadavpur University in Kolkata (Hindustan Times)

At a time the raging firestorm over the arrest of a JNU student leader for alleged anti-India utterances has swept the country and has split opinion on free speech, a Kolkata-based Supreme Court lawyer has issued an advertisement on newspapers in a bid to rally support against 'anti-national elements'.

In the half-page advertisement that was carried by some Bengal dailies on Wednesday, a city-based NGO run by the lawyer, Joydip Mukherjee, lashed out at a section of the political establishment and individuals for pledging support to the JNU protest.

In the half-page advertisement that was carried by some Bengal dailies on Wednesday, a city-based NGO run by the lawyer, Joydip Mukherjee, lashed out at a section of the political establishment and individuals for pledging support to the JNU protest.

"A section of people having vested interests is chanting antinational slogans with support of a few political parties. They are supporting the external forces that want to destabilise our country. People who love India won't support such activities," Mukherjee, who heads the NGO, All India Legal Aid Forum (AI LAF), said.

Mukherjee, who is known to be close to the ruling Trinamool Congress, had earlier been vocal on such issues as the declassification of all files related to Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose and the need to close down all brick kilns and hotels in Tarapith over rising pollution levels.

While the Left, Congress and the BJP have already taken sides and waded into the JNU turmoil, the Trinamool has yet to make its stand known in the matter. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, who is known to tweet her opinion on various issues hogging headlines in the national political sphere, has reserved a studied silence on the issue.

However, Mukherjee was especially critical of the Left parties over their stand on the issue.

On Tuesday evening, a section of JU students, mostly affiliated to Left-backed unions, took out a torch rally on campus to voice solidarity with their JNU counterparts. A few of them are alleged to have raised slogans in the name of Parliament attack convict Afzal Guru. Even a placard was reportedly spotted in support of the separatist movement in Kashmir.

The half-page advertisement, booked for a few lakhs, was splashed in at least three Bengali dailies on Wednesday.

"Those who are shouting anti-national slogans today belong to a tribe of politicians who once said, Yeh aazadi jhuta hain (Our independence is fake) and called Netaji an 'imperialist agent' and 'Tojo's dog'. We should rise against such forces," Mukherjee said. He said the forum will soon hold rallies and seminars across Kolkata to raise public awareness on the cause.
