PRESS RELEASE   Four girls faint due to classes in open in a Government School in Faridabad ; NHRC issues notice to the Haryana Government New Delhi, July 25th, 2011           The National Human Rights Commission has taken suo motu cognizance of a media report alleging that four girl students of III and IV standards of a Government Girls Senior Secondary School in Old Faridabad fainted due to scorching heat as the classes were being held under the open sky. The media report carried on the 21st July, 2011 also alleged that the school does not have the basic facilities like accommodation, sanitation and drinking water.   The Commission observed today on the 25th July, 2011 that the contents of the media report, if true, raise a serious violation of human rights of the children.   Notices have been issued to the Financial Commissioner and Principal Secretary to Government of Haryana, School Education Department and the Director, Directorate of Secondary Education, Chandigarh to submit their reports within four weeks.  They have also been directed to take immediate appropriate action to ameliorate the situation in case the allegations in the media report are found true.
